Donuts are knotted onto tape tied to a chair; the performer frees them intact, shows the chair and tape completely separate, then produces a goldfish bowl from his coat.

A borrowed marked coin is crumbled to nothing; a clothes pin collects invisible fragments from the air and deposits them in a handkerchief well; the coin is found restored.

A spectator notes a card from twelve; the performer snaps cards one at a time from hand to pocket, producing the selected card whenever the spectator wishes.

Hugard defines magic as the illusion produced by natural movements causing unnatural results, and argues against dependence on speed and mechanical apparatus.
