Magic Square Card Mystery

Spectator cuts off cards from the deck and counts them. The next 16 cards are dealt in a 4x4 grid (the remaining cards are set aside). The grid is a magic square that sums to the number of cards cut. But not all the sums are correct. Adding the number of remaining cards achieves the correct total.
